Sam Brabham Collects BRSCC Silverware

Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Scholarship Vice-Champion, Sam Brabham collected his 2013 silverware on Saturday (8 February) at the British Racing and Sports Car Club’s (BRSCC) Annual Awards Dinner.

Attending the prestigious evening for the very first time alongside father David, the 19 year-old celebrated the results of his debut single-seater season with JTR. Despite missing the opening rounds and having only limited karting experience heading into his maiden Formula Ford campaign, Brabham immediately proved his potential as a third generation driver.

Scoring second in class and the fastest lap on his first series outing at Donington Park, the University of Northampton Sports & Exercise Science student went on to record six Scholarship victories among 21 class and six outright podiums.

Sam is the first Brabham to earn a BRSCC trophy since Dad David took the 1989 British Formula 3 title with six victories, seven pole positions and 13 front row starts from 15 races with Bowman Racing.

Brabham commented: “It was nice to continue another Brabham family tradition and to be presented with my first BRSCC championship trophy by Chairman Bernard Cottrell. My Grandfather, Sir Jack is a long-standing Vice President of the Club so it’s great for me to also now be a part of that history.

“Congratulations also to everyone at JTR for scooping the Team’s award. Everyone put in a massive effort and every team member contributed to our success last season, so it was great to be able to share in those celebrations too.”
