Brabham evolves with Esports Team for maiden ERL Cup competition

Brabham Branding will carry 70 years of the iconic motorsport brand into the virtual racing world with the launch of its new Brabham Esports Team to compete in the Esports Racing League (ERL) Cup Series.

A global champion over seven generations of Formula One, IndyCar, Le Mans and sportscars, Brabham now takes its DNA and racing philosophy into the esports environment.

The first-ever Brabham Esports Team will join the ERL (Esports Racing League) Cup Series, starting with the Spring Cup this Wednesday, 9 March. A squad of five drivers (to be announced shortly) will compete across the Assetto Corsa Competizione, rFactor2 and iRacing platforms.

Brabham’s first foray into the esports arena follows the recent collaboration with Base Performance Simulators to produce a limited-edition run of simulators celebrating three iconic Brabham Motorsport-themed Formula One liveries.

Each of the Brabham Esports cars fielded across the four-round ERL Spring Cup calendar will fittingly represent the same significant eras of Brabham achievements. The BT19 recognising Sir Jack Brabham’s 1966 World Drivers’ title and first Constructors’ crown; the BT46B ‘Fan Car’; and the BT52 – the first car to win the world championship powered by a turbo engine.

David Brabham, owner of the Brabham racing name: “The creation of the Brabham Esports Team is an exciting new era, bringing over 70 years of our winning heritage and philosophy into the virtual racing world. This represents an exciting new journey as the Brabham brand enters an eighth decade, in which we hope to add success in the esports arena to achievements across Formula One, Le Mans and championships worldwide.”

The line-up of the Brabham Esports Team of specialist drivers will follow shortly.
